I own half a dozen pairs of Ecco shoes. These, like the rest, are as comfortable as shoes get. I would never do so in these shoes, but I would be quite confident taking a long hike in them, they are that comfortable. I needed them for a job that requires dress shoes in black. The price and everything else were perfect. Take note; I bought all those other Eccos to serve specific purposes, from sandals to light hikers. They all are extremely comfortable and look great. Durability, on the other hand, depends very much upon where they were made. European made Eccos wear incredibly well, while those made in China (note that is specifically China) fall apart relatively quickly. Those made in other Asian countries wear much better. Check the label before you buy. Pass on the Chinese made shoes unless you don't mind them lasting only a year or two (my first pair of Eccos, made in Europe, lasted more than 10 years).
